One word can’t even begin to encapsulate who Ross Fowler was or what he was about. Yet, one by one Saturday, some of those words — devotion, loyal, selfless, inspiring, supportive and, yes, hilarious — identified the man so many loved.
“(He was) just one of those people that you wanted to be around. One of those people that if you were with him, it was going to be a fun, positive few hours that you were together,” Evergreen neighbor and longtime friend Brian Shields said.
Fowler, a native of Manchester, England, died on Dec. 13 at the age of 49.
A constant in the soccer community, with Colorado Rush, Denver Kickers, Evergreen Park & Recreation District or Evergreen High School, where he took over the boys program in 2014 and led the Cougars to their second state title in school history in his second season, Fowler was not just a competitive coach but a passionate one as well.
