Skate the Lake block party a ‘fun’ alternative for New Year’s Eve

Evergreen sure knows how to throw a block party.


The Skate the Lake block party on New Year’s Eve on Evergreen Parkway near the lake was a family-friendly event of great proportions with something for every age. From the bounce house for youngsters to the giant games for everyone, to the DJ playing dance music to the food trucks — a good time was had by all.

Betsy Hays, president of the Evergreen Area Chamber of Commerce, was expecting 1,000 attendees at the party, which took the place of the traditional Skate the Lake.

“The public has been so understanding,” Hays said, “and they have been so happy we are having this event. We went over the top, and they are having a ball. We’re just thrilled. Everything came together.”
