The new owner of the Barber Stop has channeled adversity in her personal life into helping others through her professional life.

Lisa Jones, 45, the barber at the shop in downtown Evergreen at the corner of Highways 73/74, has been through 25 surgeries over the years to grow her right leg. She had a staph infection at 2 weeks old that killed the growth plate in her leg.

She has scars at various places on her leg, and four years ago, she had a knee replacement that included titanium “bones” that go from the middle of her thigh to the middle of her calf.

Despite a leg that still hurts, she volunteers to cut hair for homeless people and orphans in Denver and through Evergreen Christian Outreach. She hopes to connect with the Mountain Peace Shelter in Conifer to give haircuts to women at the domestic violence shelter.
