Managed parking program likely to stay in Idaho Springs

Idaho Springs’ parking task force has recommended keeping the downtown managed parking program with simplified kiosks and improved signage, so the program helps the city maintain a positive image.

Now the city plans to negotiate a long-term contract with Interstate Parking Co. of Colorado to continue the program that includes a residential parking plan, paid parking on Miner Street year-round, and paid parking in city lots from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. during busy times of the year.

The city currently has a month-to-month contract with the company, with revenues being shared 50-50. Mayor Mike Hillman said he would like to maintain that split.
