Special district elections scheduled for May 5

May 5 is election day for fire districts, water districts and the Evergreen Park & Recreation District.

Feb. 28 is the deadline for self-nominations for open positions, and each district has a designated election official who provides the paperwork, and collects and checks the signatures on completed forms.

Districts have until March 3 to determine whether there is a contested election. If there is not, the district can cancel the election.

Because the state is moving to special district elections in odd years, everyone running for a full term will serve three years rather than four. Those running in 2022 also will serve three-year terms.
