New mayor and police chief, water issues on tap for Empire

A lot’s happened in Empire over the past year.

The mayor left, and an interim mayor took over; the police chief left, and a new one is in his place; and officials continue to find ways to improve water for the town.

Yet some things remain the same, such as the town’s concerns about affordable housing and employee retention.

“It’s a great community — a lot of good people,” Stein said of Empire. “And for such a small town, it’s very open and friendly with a lot of activity.”
