Clear Creek memorial wreaths recycled at Conifer goat farm

Rather than sitting in a landfill, the holiday wreaths that had been placed at Clear Creek County’s five cemeteries have become snacks at a local goat farm.

In December, volunteers put about 200 wreaths on veterans’ graves throughout the county as part of Wreaths Across America, a nationwide event, and, in January, the wreaths were removed.

In previous years, Clear Creek County Veterans Service Officer Troy Erickson threw them away, but this year was different.

Erickson learned from other event organizers across the country that the wreaths could be donated as feed to local goat farms, so he started looking for a nearby farm.
