Holding onto the past: Elk Run residents’ hands tell stories about their lives

Alima Blackwell, owner of Raven’s Nest Photography, photographed the hands of residents of Elk Run Assisted Living in Evergreen.

“I have been dreaming about photographing their hands,” said Blackwell, who has lived here since 2018 and volunteers at Elk Run with her son.

“Through their hands, (the photos) tell of things important to them — memories that they are holding on to,” she explained. “The way they responded was so incredibly sweet and encouraging.”

Blackwell, a former elementary school teacher, said she has a love for the older generation because of her close relationship with her grandparents.
