Brant family members are grateful for the outpouring of support they’ve received since losing their house in a fire Thursday morning.

“We are so grateful and humbled by everyone’s love and kindness,” said Taylor Brant, the son of Sally and Jeff Brant, who had lived in the Marshdale home for 44 years. “Everyone’s goodness toward us has been such a light in the darkness.”

Evergreen Fire/Rescue put out the fire Thursday near North Turkey Creek and Gartner roads that gutted the home. Taylor, who was the only person at home at the time, made it out of the house safely, but Taylor’s dog, Breck, didn’t survive.

Taylor said he was eating breakfast and working on his computer when internet access quit around 9:30 a.m. Fifteen minutes later, he smelled smoke and ran outside to find the garage engulfed in flames.
