Bailey could one day be home to a professional theater

Bill Bruner hopes that one day Bailey will be home to a true professional theater.

For several years, Bruner and others have been gauging community interest in what they’re calling the Bailey Theatre Company. While there are a number of community theaters in the mountain area, this would be the first professional theater where actors are paid for their work. Overall, Bruner believes it would be a great community resource but also a draw to the area.

The Bailey Theatre Company moved a step closer to actualization last weekend after a silent auction fundraiser last weekend. Bruner estimates that the theater company will need between $25,000 to $50,000 to officially get off the ground. With the first round of funding, leaders plan to obtain official nonprofit status for the Bailey Theatre Company.
