Residents’ quality-of-life issues for Hillman, Kowalewski

Both Mayor Mike Hillman and challenger Mike Kowalewski agree it’s important that Idaho Springs find a balance between tourism and the community’s quality of life — but they differ on exactly what that means.

On April 7, city residents will decide whether to recall Hillman as mayor of Idaho Springs and elect Kowalewski to take his seat for the rest of his term, which is about 18 months.

The Courant talked to both men earlier this month about their priorities for the city.
