Two candidates vying to become the district attorney in the 5th Judicial District discussed their views on alternatives to incarceration, keeping discrimination out of the office and attorney retention during a 75-minute Zoom forum last week.
Democrats Heidi McCollum and Braden Angel are on the June 30 Democratic primary ballot. They are seeking to succeed Bruce Brown, who has been the district attorney for eight years. He is term-limited and cannot seek reelection. No Republicans have declared their candidacy for the position, so in essence, the primarily election will determine the new district attorney.
Both want to take the reins of the district that includes Clear Creek, Lake, Eagle and Summit counties.
