If asked in Jan 2014 to remove said sig, and that is done a few days later; then the exact same sig is put back up months later though the rules didn't change, asked again via PM to remove it, and no reply for 10 days, well, yes, it will be done for you. Otherwise those who intentionally want to hurt this site, not you Heartless, just speaking in general here, would never have any motivation to comply if we spinelessly always waited on them to do as we asked - do you see where I'm coming from? Signatures are not to be harassing towards other members by mentioning them in a negative context, that's been a rule since this site began. You have an issue with someone, you address it with them in conversation on the thread in which you disagree, you do not have it included on every post you make across multiple threads and forums because it's in your signature.

Humor and offensiveness are subjective - what is funny and non-offensive to one person, may be extremely offensive to another. To quote Star Trek, "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one." If a lot of people would find it offensive, it goes to The Ring. It's handled on a case-by-case basis, report it if you think it needs review. We certainly do love humor and would like to see more of it, and it depends upon what it is and what the intention is behind it. If it's meant as a light-hearted poke at a group or to make people think and examine their own beliefs, fine. If it's meant to bash said group and harass someone who identifies with that group so that they stop posting here, that is not cool and it goes to The Ring. If it seems like that's all we're having posted, that's different than one or two comments here and there. Again, moderating is an art, not a science, and it's done with the members' desires, responses to said posts, enjoyment of the site, and big picture of all the posts being made at the time in mind. Feel free to PM/email us and ask before posting something if you aren't sure where it belongs, or put anything that you are unsure of in the Ring - as long as it's not illegal, porn, or spam, it can go there all day long - ain't no one stoppin' ya.

What's important is that you are not treated differently if you post something that gets moved to the Ring. You are not "suspended", "banned", or sent nasty, unprofessional PMs. You retain your posting privileges. What you don't get is the run of the place to make it nasty and offensive where everyone can publicly see it and it damages the traffic to this site because people are turned off by the negativity. That is precisely what had been happening and why this change has been made. It's not to "punish" any one member, it's to make this site more attractive to more members to become active so we all have more fun, and this business grows and we can all continue to use it.

I believe my sig line referenced two capital letters and not the posters full screen name. A quick search also revealed 112 pages of "teabagger" references by said poster. I'm just catching up to the rules, now, and apologize if I hit a nerve.

HEARTLESS wrote: Rule #1 SC owns the site, what she says goes.
Rule #2 Anything humorous and even mildly offensive to anyone, will be sent to the Ring
Rule #3 If "asked" in a private message and not done, it will be done for you refer to Rule #1

I think you have exaggerated #2 and #3 is reasonable.

If you want to actually have a conversation/debate with someone, making a joke about pushing them down the stairs and calling them useless isn't a good way to begin.

 Like I tell my kids, "I didn't just fall off the turnip truck" when they try to pull one over on me. :P It was still a reference to said member, we all know it, don't try to fudge now when it was asked, and removed, months ago. :redcard: :cheer:

The word teabagger was used before this moderation change, it will not be used in the Courthouse like it was before. Now that that's been brought up - the same goes for libtard. All are used in derogatory fashions, intended to bash people (e.g. talking about each other), not have constructive dialog on topics (e.g. discussing topic at hand). You wanna call someone one of those terms, have at it in the Ring. :boxing: :parry: I expect it to become epic in there though, so step up your game - no more same old, boring insults in there!

Show a little patience while the old dog learns the new tricks SC. Have a glass of wine and know I'm done posting tonight, so you can relax.

No worries Heartless, Patience is my middle name! :) I'd like to ask for the same in return, if that's cool. I don't intend to become a dictator, I just want this to be a more fun and active place for all. Then my (yes, you are all mine...MuHaHaHa!) members are happy, my advertisers are happy, and I'm happy. Then I can start throwing more parties with free beer! :cheersbeer:

Unfortunately, no wine or relaxing for me tonight, too much work to do. I wish you a great night though, and look forward to your posts tomorrow! :2thumbsup:
