OUT OF COUNTRY POSTINGS

Several years ago I was on a trip out of the U.S. and attempted to post on MMT. When I returned to the U.S. After contacting MMT I was told that comments from outside the U.S. were not allowed,( either for technical or moderator reasons, my supposition).
Of late Wayne Harrison has participated in lively conversation with other individuals on several threads.
Wayne has stated that he is in Costa Rica, certainly outside of the U.S.
Has MMT changed so that posts can be made while out of the country? If not what is Wayne's secret that allows him to post on MMT?

My Mountain Town is not accessible outside of the United States for security reasons. Even though we've blocked access to every country, we still have over 150 hacking attacks per day; it would place the site at huge risk to open it up.

Despite this security measure, it is still possible to access the site from foreign countries in other ways which I am not going to discuss publicly for security reasons. I have not asked the member in question, but as they chose to stop participating here a month ago, it's a moot point.

I think I have been able to sign on when I am on cruises, but the service on board is probably based in America.

SC,
Thank you. I understand from your comment that Wayne Harrison hacked into the MMT website. And was able to do this for several months. Good for him and his computer skills. I thought that he had dropped out due to his inability to address questions proffered to him.
Can we assume that he stopped voluntarily or was he suspended by MMT?
Going to miss him.

I'm sorry, I realize I was being intentionally vague in not answering how people can circumvent geo-location blocks, and yes I mentioned the reason we have that in place is because we have people attempting to hack the website. It was not a correlation between how the member in question accessed MMT. No, he absolutely did NOT hack into MMT. Hackers try to break into the back end of the website where they can get access to the admin controls and turn the site into something else (e.g. spammers selling something, pornography, etc) and anyone attempting to do so is immediately banned; they usually are not members. Members who simply login and post in the Forums are not "hacking" the website.

The member to whom you are referring gave their reason for leaving, it is posted here.
