Registration for the 1st Annual Conifer Run the Ranch 5k is now open. The event, hosted by the Conifer Interact Club, will take place at Beaver Ranch (located at 285 and Foxton Road) on June 21st, 2014.

This is the first time in several years that Beaver Ranch will hold a 5k, and the 5k was made possible by the development of a new trail that allows the course to avoid the extremely steep trails in the southern part of the park. More info regarding the course, or the correct place to register, can be found at the 5k’s website: www.runtheranch.net.

Wyatt Guernsey, President of the Conifer Interact Club, elaborated on the 5k. “Most 5k run/walks are straightforward; they all follow paved roads. It doesn’t make sense for somewhere like Conifer not to have a trail-based 5k. Conifer is a mountain town, and it deserves a mountain 5k.”

He continued to explain about the purpose of the Conifer Interact Club. “Almost everyone knows what the Rotary is. They do not, however, know what Interact is. Interact is the youth-based branch of Rotary International. We run on the same principles and serve to provide service to both the local and international community. In order to fund our operations, the Conifer Interact Club is hosting this 5k, which we hope will grow into a staple of Conifer’s annual events.”

“We have been planning this 5k for over a year. It definitely has been an arduous process, but we are committed to the success of the event. To have an organization of service-oriented high school students this devoted to helping global issues is truly a blessing. We have done all in our power to make this a great event. The number one thing we need now is registrants.”

Registration is available at www.runtheranch.net for $35 through 6/14 and $40 after 6/14. Day-of registration will cost $50.

The first 125 people to register will receive the event’s t-shirt, and all registrants will have full access to ultra-close parking, numerous water stations along the course, and timing. The four fastest times per gender will receive a Road ID gift certificate. The run/walk will begin at 8:00 AM, and check-in will begin at 7:00 AM.

The 5k is sponsored by many local businesses and organizations, including the IREA, Chalet Home Design, Evergreen Marble and Granite, Community Banks of Colorado, Rotary Club of Conifer, Road ID, Conifer Counseling, Meadow Creek Design, and Big R Conifer.
