Ok, after quite a few years I'm finally ready to buy a gun again. Anyone have any suggestions of a reputable place to buy one? I do want to shoot it first to see if I like it. Also, any good shooting ranges anyone can suggest? Thanks!

Without a doubt Green Mountain Guns they have a forum on this site. Ask for Merv and tell him I sent you from 285bound. He provided some great service for me.

Thanks CG. I checked out the forum this morning. I can't wait to start really looking. I'm pretty sure I know what I like and don't like so that should help. He sounds like a really nice guy. Do you think I should take someone with me who knows more about guns than me or will I be ok?

I second and third what they said. Sent a friend to Green Mtn Guns who knows nada about guns and she got a lot of help in her selection.
And Buffalo Creek Gun Club is very nice this time of year. Wouldn't be surprised if GMG would also have some suggestions for shooting ranges.

bcgc is open to the public weekends from April thru October. I believe they charge $15. Members have access year 'round. Just to brush up on skills, you may want to visit Don & Carl at www.pdsim.com. Even if you don't want a ccw, their class is top-notch for learning the laws and getting some good practical training. For live fire, talk to the folks at Mean Streets http://meanstreetstactical.blogspot.com, who happen to use bcgc as their range. Great guys!
