U.S. Forest Service firefighters and volunteer crews from Park County are battling a wildfire in the Pike National Forest near Kenosha Pass that has grown to 15 acres with no containment as of 2:45 p.m. Thursday.

The fire was reported Wednesday afternoon. Early reports indicated the fire was approximately one acre in size.

Park County Undersheriff Monte Gore said Thursday around noon that the fire had grown to about three-and-a-half acres by 9:30 p.m. Wednesday when firefighters from the Bailey-based Platte Canyon Fire Protection District and the Jefferson-Como Fire Protection District were relieved by U.S. Forest Service firefighters.
