Protect yourself from mosquito bites as you celebrate the 4th of July!
Release Date: Jul 1, 2011
With the wet spring continuing into the heat of summer, Larimer County could be in for mosquito numbers higher than seen in recent years, according to the Larimer County Department of Health and Environment.
“Anyone who has been outside lately has probably noticed an increase in mosquitoes,” said Dr. Adrienne LeBailly, director of the Larimer County Department of Health and Environment. “So far, the number of Culex mosquitoes—the ones that carry West Nile virus—is still small, but will increase quickly with the high temperatures.”
“The greatest risk of being infected with West Nile virus runs from early July through August. It’s especially important for the next two months to protect yourself from being bitten when outside between dusk and dawn.”
