As a newer member of this site I have to emote, I was well relieved here when I joined and even when members but heads over principals and beliefs, everyone has been respectful and courteous. I love the Ring and being able to say exactly what I mean. I wish I had joined 285bound earlier!
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

I like the fact that though some discussions can get heated here, for the most part, there is a positive slant on issues here. Good businesses are given their credit but bad businesses are hardly ever mentioned. Makes me want to go out and frequent the good businesses that advertise here and I do so whenever I can.
I have also seen a side of people here that makes me proud to live around such bright and funny folks.
The "Bar fight" thread is a great example of just how clever our neighbors are.
I am beginning to renew my deep sense of community here.
I just can't wait to run into some of these great people.
This site reminds me a lot of what I thought PC was in Spring/Summer 2002. Lots of people looking for information, many others trying to provide it, many others trying to help in other ways, some disagreements which could be and were allowed to be settled, some humor to break the tension, and generally pretty much what happens whenever a diverse group of people get together anywhere.
Some people get along well together, some don't - it is not much different in person or on the Internet.
I met some wonderful friends in those days, and those relationships have endured and strengthened. I thank PC in that time period for allowing/nurturing that, and I see this site doing the same thing.
IMO, PCs problems began when real/perceived disagreements with the 'powers that be' were no longer allowed to be worked out, but instead those who were seen as being in disagreement were summarily dismissed from 'the community'.
As long as 285bound, and the other CommunitiesBound sites continue to even-handedly work out disagreements as they arise, allow reasonable discussion to continue, even when it gets heated at times, and not allow individual egos to get in the way of what is good for the community, I think they will succeed, and I totally like it!
Thanks, CommunitiesBound, for doing this!
