Air Tankers Requested For RMNP Fire
Blaze Breaks Out Near Mount Dickinson

ESTES PARK, Colo. -- Four air tankers and six to eight smoke jumpers have been requested for a 3- to 5-acre fire was burning in Rocky Mountain National Park Thursday afternoon.

The park service said the fire was located one mile south of 11,814-foot Mount Dickinson, six miles west of Glen Haven.

The fire could be seen from Estes Park and was reported around 1 p.m. The location was determined from aerial surveillance.

Fire season is upon us, whether we are ready for it or not.....

Hopefully this will provide some incentive to each of us to get our own mitigation and other preparedness work done!
