Yeah, you mean like not knowing from day to day if you're going to get an atomic bomb dropped on your city, or dying a slow death from radiation fallout if you survived?



Doing the weekly air raid drills at school.



Or worrying about catching polio? Chances are one of your friends was in an iron lung:



They were fun times, let me tell you.

(Just wanted to point out it wasn't as "simple" as it looks 60 years later)

Never thought of that but you may be right. Ernie grew up 2 blocks from my family. He was an idol.Everybody knew him and his family. Of course I was just a baby.
