Bailey Brat is a Sailor......

When it comes to military - I'm not exactly an enthusiast. I do appreciate what service will do for my son, and I'm proud of his willingness and ability to serve.

I believe I have articulated a fairly strong dis-like of our activities in Iraq and Afghanistan. Indeed, I do not think war with Iran is necessary, either.

That said -

a) we need people to serve
b) service has a purpose - even if that purpose might be mis-guided at the moment
c) my son needs a purpose - and he appreciates the opportunity to serve
d) my son's training in the Navy's nuclear power program has very useful civilian applications.
(I tell my son that he's going to end up back in Abu Dhabi --- they're building power plants, now, and will need operators in 6-10 years).

The purpose of this thread was to express my appreciation and pride of my son. I'm not going to bend on that. If you'd like to rant about the war - take it outside, please. If you'd like to thank of appreciate my son - feel free to do so, here.

Someone who has never served is running thier mouth about a young man who will be heading into some very tough training for the next year or so. sm/vl/ds/ whatever, either learn before you speak or just shut up. You should have learned by now that you are a clueless wonder about the military, you proved that when you LIED about florida, we caught you in every one of your Lies. WHY cause you are an idiot and clueless.

Who are you talking to?

I also believe that if your are going to serve humanity and do anything good at all with your life that the military is probably not the best option...and it quite possibly may be the worst, but

Having said that I can see where having a kid in the military (during these tough economic times in the real world) could take a burden off a parent. Afterall you know he's gonna sleep in a warm bed everynight, get fed 3 meals a day and recieve a pension after 20 years..Thats gotta be comforting to Bailey Bob

I don't know you or your son, but please let him know that myself and my family appreciate his sacrifice and his service. We wish him well, and hope that the skills he learns serve him well in his future life.

My Father-in-law was drafted for WWII. He said that the army was the best thing that ever happened to him. He served his time, showed a previously undiscovered aptitude for mechanics, was trained and served as an airplane mechanic at West Point, and came home to become a lead millwright at CF&I in Pueblo where he retired after 32 years.

Anyone that serves with honor has my respect and gratitude.
