Crews rush to douse 30-acre blaze in Park County

A 30-acre wildfire was burning in grass, shrubs and timber Sunday night near Badger Mountain in Park County, federal firefighting officials said Sunday.

The blaze, called the Weber fire, was reported just after 5 p.m., and crews were rushing to the scene before the flames could spread like the wildfire that has blackened 22 square miles of northern Colorado since Saturday.

Officials at the Pueblo Interagency Fire Dispatch Center, which manages fires in federal lands in the region, said 20 firefighters were working on the Weber fire and another crew of 20 state prisoners from Buena Vista were on their way to help take on the flames. One home was threatened Sunday and the people inside were evacuated. The fire was at zero percent containment, according to the Park County Sheriff's Office.

The fire is just north of Badger Mountain, a high spot that's about 20 miles west of Woodland Park.

I am starting to worry we are stretching our firefighting resources
Canadian firefighters are heading to the High Park fire.

Thanks for the link. Too busy listening to Larimer County last night and missed this one.

Wildcad says it is 60 acres but that was yesterday at 4:50 pm. Location FS 231 - 1 mile off CR 31

Personal comment: They have some good staffing for this fire. Unfortunately they left us with an idiot if we have another fire in this area.

All morning I have been watching what I think is smoke from the Weber fire. The rest of the sky is clear.

Does anyone know what the wind conditions are like in that area. Wind kicking up east side of Bailey so I have been out watching and haven't had time to check. Thanks.

Haven't seen any updates on the Wildcad but it is still putting up smoke, which could be a good thing if the forest service is getting more of it out, it sometimes smokes more in the process. Like that thought better than the idea that wind is kicking up more smoke. Will keep an eye on it.
