“When white man find land, Indians running it, no taxes, no debt, plenty buffalo, plenty beaver, clean water. Women did all the work, Medicine man free. Indian man spend all day hunting and fishing; all night having sex. Only whit man dumb enough to think he could improve system like that.” Indian Chief Two Eagles

The Flume has an excellent article
35 attend Guffey wildfire seminar
Officials address defensible space, evacuations, animal preparation, more

Making house defensible

If a fire does come to your area, the fire department will triage structures to protect, said Felton, based on how defensible the structures are against a fire with No. 1 being defensible with no work, No. 2 being defensible with little work and No. 3 being, sadly, pass it by.

To make sure your home is not a number three, you need to create a defensible space around your home and prepare, said Felton.

Sorry..I don't live my life getting prepared for the 1 in a million worst case senario..I wouldn't even waste one second on it- it wouldn't give me peace of mind and i'd feel like an idiot or possibly a spaz

Don't worry about it friends.. I'm sure glad my father didn't worry about that kind of crap, it would have turned out to be a total waste of time and back when I was a kid we had about 10,000 intercontenantal billistic missles pointed right at our heads..We shoulda been afraid

When did America become so frieghtened, and when did men become so demasculated that they aren't ashamed of being sissy's on a public forum like this?

There are a lot of people who think like you do VL. Just look around you at the lack of mitigation.

One family member says that he has a better chance of being killed in car than in a wildfire.

Hope you have a fast car considering there is only one road out or an alternative way to walk out. Or are you planning on staying?

We'd probaly go to our homes in Las Vegas or Southwest Florida...I pay my insurance company to worry about natural desiasters. Thats what insurance is for

Well plan on spending a long time at your other homes. Apparently you don't know anyone who has lost a home and has gone through the horrible process of trying to rebuild. Some have ended up waiting 2 years before the rebuild because of so much red tape with their insurance, county, etc.

Easier to do fire mitigation than go through that process.

And while there are no guarantees that fire mitigation will do the trick if the wind is blowing hard, reducing fuels no matter what would be a good reason to do the work. You may save yours or your neighbors lives.

Be prepared but don't worry about things you can't control. Just roll with it. :)

If you want to be, press one. If you want not to be, press 2

Republicans are red, democrats are blue, neither of them, gives a flip about you.
