I'll bet you I can open just about anything with a big enough hammer and some time; if your only objective is to open the package I'm your man!
I love and loath Christmas at the same time for this exact reason. The little brother and his lovely wife buy all manner of toys and stuff for their kids, some assembly required and/or over packaged to the point I keep my Leatherman multi tool on hand from late on Christmas Eve until well after brunch of Christmas Day.
