Because you get what you pay for?
A licensed shop will not risk their business by purchasing weak, buggy and moldy product off the black market.
I have spent some time in Denver, but this thread is about a shop in Bailey. I would encourage you to stop by and speak with the owner.

I don't understand this comment. If folks can grow their own for personal use, they won't be buying it at all.
I agree that a licensed shop wouldn't risk their business, they would more than likely provide a quality product. However there are a number of potential purchasers who don't think clearly and will buy the cheapest that will give them their high and doubt it will come from a licensed shop. This shop will be undermined by the cheaper product flowing into Bailey. And it will flow. Come on people live up here so that they can do what they want, and guess what, they do what they want.
So I have to go back to the marijuana fields in Ecuador for this information. I pass many on my way to villages to work with teachers on math. If I recollect correctly the number of plants that may be grown at home in Colorado is very limited. If it is 5 plants, that isn't very much. So much more is processed in Ecuador and shipped by manufacturers. So if you use one and bring in another to replace it takes a very long time to grow. More than likely a home grower will use up all the plants and will be supplementing along the way while his/her new ones grow. So wanting a product at an inexpensive price is probably going to be their most logical move and more than likely that will be from manufacturers from other countries. So welcome Colorado to the drug trade.

lol Tell that to the ones in Bailey and elsewhere already using before it even became law.
Plants are supposed to be grown in the house or a contained structure. Do you really think they will limit the number to 5 or whatever it is supposed to be? Wonder how many will be found growing outside especially in the mountains so as not to have to do business with a licensed shop. And another question, it takes months to grow plants. Will 5 be anywhere close enough for that time span?

Start from clones. They grow fast. No law says that you can't start with mature plants. Contained structure like a high fenced patio or balcony? Foothill aren't very good but western slope would have good outdoor growth.

If you know what you're doing, absolutely.
Thanks appleannie.

Can't be grown outdoors.
Looks like a whole bunch of people didn't have any problem planting marijuana fields in the Pike National Forest. I expect we will see more.

Don't you think some of the alcohol establishments, bars, will at some time license to even sell, not byop?

Since you can't smoke anything in bars and restaurants, I don't think so. MJ clubs are more private parties with invites and entrance fees at private establishments.

That is how it is now in bars and restaurants, but I'm thinking more in the future for bars now that pot has been legalized. Maybe that will affect the smoking ban in bars. After all Colorado did vote to legalize it which I never thought they would do.
