Forest Service......Please

Frogger I agree.

I will say that she sounded very concerned about the fact that they did not know what was going on.

She gave me her "call name" for the the scanner it was something 11 sorry I should have wrote it down but I am sure if you call Alissa she would be happy to provide you with the information.

This is all a good thing, both the fire department and the forrest service need to realize we are listening and that we are not going to sit back and just take their word for it.

If the state is not going to help us we must help ourselves.

I think what is bothering me is that we watched a horrible tragedy unfold before us almost 1 year ago.
So many mistakes were made and one hopes that we learn from those mistakes.
What I heard last night gives me pause about what we have or have not learned.
We should NEVER see our neighbors die again in a senseless act of a lot of people failing to take whatever responsibility they deserve for mistakes that were made that cost people their lives.
WE HAVE TO BE vigilante and as mountaindollar has said, watch out for ourselves and our neighbors.
WE HAVE TO IMPROVE.

Something else from my conversation with Alissa. She said that she heard the call-out on her way home and returned to the burn site. She claims to have asked PCFD if she should get folks back on the site and they told her no. That sounded strange to me, that they were ok with the site being unattended all night. I reminded her that it was a year ago three people died from an unattended burn and she said that the two sites were completely different (terrain, snow, etc). Me: Well, other than the fact that no one was keeping an eye on them.

Frogger, I'll be interested in what you're able to learn from the fire dept.

Thanks for everyone here following up and getting to the bottom of the lies and half-truths.

I did speak to Platte Canyon and they were informed of the burn. They also said that fliers were posted.
I suspect that we may have had a communication breakdown somewhere at the possible dispatch point.
Neighbors. Please feel free to call and express your views where this situation is involved.
I understand that they have to burn these piles.....I just think we should all demand more scutiny while they do it so we do not repeat past mistakes.
