The images are disturbing. One neighborhood you couldn't see any standing buildings all the way to the horizon. Also some amazing survival stories. One school that was destroyed had no fatalities. Think part of it is due to tougher building codes since 1999.

It's still early in tornado season in thunder alley, let's hope that the rest are not giant F4's F5's that erase entire blocks, killing and injuring hundreds of people. All my best to the first responders!
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

How scary to have this happen to an area that suffered the worst tornado ever recorded in 1999, now it has happened all over again. I just can't imagine how terrifying living through that must be. Watching the news tonight brought home how fragile our lives really are when Mother Nature goes on a rampage.

Totally agree.
They are further traumatized by continuing bad weather in the area.
I was struck today by how completely insignificant my petty problems are.
Life is fragile. My heart is broken for our southern neighbors.
If tornadoes didn't exist and they created them for some movie- a mile to two mile across swath of destruction saving some and destroying others it would have been seen as unbelievable. I used to live in Ohio's tornado alley but was very lucky to have never been hit. South Park did have a tornado in the 50's. Luckily very rare up here.
Update: fatality wise, this is currently the worst tornado since 1953. But they think doppler radar saved a lot of lives by giving people time to get to safe areas.

My cousin, her husband and two kids live just south of the area devastated, It was upsetting till her Dad reached out to everyone to say they are OK.... that is a relief for my family, but my heart and soul go out to all those affected.... the images are gut wrenching. And the thought of going through what these people are have and are going through is beyond words.....
