A Boeing 777 operated by Asiana Airlines crashed while landing at San Francisco International Airport on Saturday, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

For those of you follow me on Twitter, you may know I'm a huge aviation geek who travels a lot (aside from being a huge weather geek). I've been following the crash landing of the Asiana Airlines flight in San Francisco since it happened. If you're interested, I posted the live ATC recording of the crash below. Listen for Flight 214 around the 18 minute mark. The crash happens around the 22 minute mark. Thankfully, it seems as though everyone got off the plane safely. Be patient, the website may be slow to load due to a lot of traffic.

Considering all of the dynamics in play when an aircraft as big as a 777 is landing I'd say 2 dead is just short of a miracle. From looking at all of the pictures and video of the crash it looks like the tail hit the sea wall at the end of the runway. It will be interesting to see what the black box data reveals about the final approach and the crash.
Best wishes to the families of the deceased and injured.
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

This is where I just don't understand the press coverage of this. They are treating it like a crime scene where anyone with knowledge of it is dead.
All I see are reports saying it will take months to figure out what happened and how critical the black boxes are. Yes, they are important, but the fact is the pilots survived. The pilots will know far more than anyone else about what happened.
And if it takes months to get a clear story from the pilots, then I just don't understand our system. I assume they've already been questioned, and since nothing has been reported (not that it has to be this soon), the press is just going wild with speculation instead.
