A Bear Walks Into a Bar...

ESTES PARK - Customers at Lonigan's Pub didn't seem to notice when an unusually burly visitor walked into the Estes Park bar last week.

A security camera was rolling when a black bear briefly wandered into the bar around 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

Increased pucker factor or just everyday life in Estes park? I'll side on the "don't feed the bears" part of the issue because in my experience a fed bear will eventually become a dead bear.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

When a potentially aggressive individual sits down next to you at the bar, my experience has been that it it best not to antagonize him

Dateline 1980 Bermuda - Aussie Digger parks on the bar stool next to me in a certain bar, tells me what a bunch of slobs US Navy sailors are. Beat down ensues despite my attempts to shut down my shipmates (and I might have taken a few cheap shots too... That's speculation of course...). Result? A certain US Navy submarine was not permitted to deport port until the law of the land had been satisfied and a certain NCO went to Captain's mast; a stripe and $2000.00 later I was an E-5 again. Not something to be proud of but it happened and the results shaped my future (but didn't stop me from getting into other rank altering encounters).

Bears have bad days too. Sometimes a cold one is the only thing that will do.
