I know you don't hear crickets up there, but here in Golden I enjoy listening to them.
Early this spring, I heard them as usual.
But recently have not heard a peep (or crick).
Anyone else notice this occurring this year?

Been hearing 'em in Lakewood, though they aren't as loud as they were in spring.

Haven't thought about hearing them, but I've noticed that we're not having them in the basement like we usually do.

Are crickets like frogs? The first couple nights they sound really nice, but after a month of croaking, you want to seek them out and kill them?
When I was a kid, I always wanted a cricket in the fireplace, like Jiminy.

I have never gotten tired of listening to them outside, but I do not appreciate them when they get in the house!

Just as a follow up, the last week or so the crickets have been back.
Maybe they all scheduled a cruise somewhere this summer?
Or maybe

The tan house crickets are active again, no noise, just annoying.
The silent majority will be silent no more.

The municipalities on the front range spray poison using airplanes in an attempt to control mosquito populations at certain times of the year. Quite a few additional insects and birds are considered as acceptable collateral damage.
