It's amazing to think of what the Wright Brothers started on that December day in 1903, isn't it?

The take off makes sense to me but I would like to see this aircraft make a night landing in heavy weather. I'm not a technophobe but I somehow trust a human who has been trained in flying an aircraft more than I would a man on deck with a fancy remote control. Then again have a look at the Air Force's Predator program, they have an established record of remotely operating UCAVs.

Filed under the heading "It Can't Be Done" here's some footage of another aircraft landing and taking off from a carrier:

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Corruptissima re publica plurimae leges; When the Republic is at its most corrupt the laws are most numerous. - Publius Cornelius Tacitus

Otis, I spent some time ~30 years ago imitating the electronic signature of a CVN. If memory serves we had the sig of an automated landing system for our jets. Of course just because it existed does not mean the pilots ever used it.
