Community Meeting, re: Rezoning 9/22 - Ski Hill Off 285??

Does anyone happen to have more information about this? One of our Facebook fans asked, and was kind enough to take and post a picture of the sign announcing the meeting on Monday Sept 22nd at Inter-Canyon Fire Station 3 about a possible rezoning for 22 single family homes and a ski hill? She thought it might be in the area of The Homestead - near Mariposa.

From the map, it looks more like the area of Cinch or Surrey or in btwn. Funny, I always thought that looked like it would be a great sledding hill.

Seriously, there just isn't enough snow. Not a brilliant plan IMO.

Anyone remember the old ski area on 285? Was called Mt. Molehill or something similar? Only one lift and one run, think it closed because of lack of snow. Does anyone remember where it was? Somewhere between Turkey Creek Canyon and Bailey? :skiing:

Here's the list of historic ski areas along the Front Range. Mount Molehill is listed as one.

Good luck with the water rights issue for residential water or water for snow making for that matter. The tap fees will be huge for a central water system. I am hoping JCDPHE requires advanced septic systems.

It's behind a pay wall, but if you have a subscription, there's a recent article in the High Timber Times on this issue.

Petition opposes rezoning in The Homestead
Some 500 residents object to 1-acre lots, possible ski hill
By Gabrielle Porter
Tuesday, January 13, 2015

Homeowners in The Homestead subdivision in Morrison have gathered nearly 500 signatures to protest a rezoning proposal that would allow a 53-acre parcel to be turned into open space, hiking trails and potentially a ski slope.
