Editor's note: Annie Halpin of Park County Search & Rescue sent this dispatch detailing a rescue that occurred over the weekend.

Five Colorado mountain rescue teams joined forces Saturday night in a grueling 11-hour effort to reach and extricate a seriously injured Denver woman who was stranded in a winter storm on an exposed flank of Rosalie Peak in the Mount Evans Wilderness Area.

Very interesting story. We once winter hiked to the top of Rosalie in Jan 2000. Winter hikes are no picnic. They must have been well prepared or they would not have made it to the top. But accidents do happen.

I bet ALpineMike was one of the rescue team.

I've tried Rosalie in the winter once but turned around half way, just too unpredictable and exposed, even in the summer and fall strong winds can be a real danger up there.

Glad she was rescued.

have never climbed it any time of year when it wasn't windy, but with our high wind gusts of late, now wouldn't exactly be a good time.
