Thinking of buying a smoker

Does anybody have one they like or tips on features or brands I should be looking for? I want to stay relatively inexpensive and I don't need a huge one.

You didn't specify electric or charcoal...

When I had one, I used charcoal (better flavor) similar to the one here:

Here's the electric version:

JMC, we have one I think, buried in the garage somewhere if you want to try it to see if you like it. I think it's electric though. Let me know and I'll see if we can find the thing.

Ours is electric and for me at least it is easier to control the heat for more delicate meats or if I am smoking a large piece of meat that takes a long time. I tend to forget that the darn thing is on and the charcoal goes out.

Most likely it is because I am lacking the male gene

Don't forget we have mesquite and hickory wood chips at Mountain Dollar for $1.50 a smaller bags at Kings and Safeway will run you $3.00 to $4.00. So if you happen to be on the Evergreen side stop in.

I had a charcoal one and as much as it is harder the electric just does not compare in taste.

JMC, turns out we don't own a smoker. Used to and it was electric, but we gave it away since I don't eat meat and hubby never did anything with it. We do have a dehydrator. That, I could loan you!
Sorry!
