I was wondering if you wanted to do a "sticky" for the picnic (I think Becky has the date set now)? Or something like that. That way everyone can see it if it drops to another page. Maybe make that part of a welcome for the newbies (like a tag line etc). Just an idea.

That is a great idea. In fact it ought to be on FB too. Perhaps we could have pending social events quick links To calendar?) or just a drop down menu should there be more than one event ahead.
If you can, the best thing to do is post the picnic in the event area, The Viking, our calendar guy, monitors it and can add to the calendar. We may be able to sticky it. We are still deciding how we will use the stickies but we will make sure it is prominently displayed.
Questions. I don't see the difference between the ring and the courthouse? Do posts originate in the ring or just get moved there? Overall it seems like a good approach, I just don't see much difference.
It is probably too much hassle, but I always wondered if a separate forum for local politics vs national politics would bring in more people/topics on the local level (county/state). I'd love to see more discussion on local issues when there are any! Just some thoughts to ponder. Nice site BTW, thanks and good luck.

Republicans are red, democrats are blue, neither of them, gives a flip about you.
Hi Mr. Joetheseptictankpumper. You must have just about gone to the end of our character limit on our system. LOL
Thanks for your input. The difference between "The Courthouse' and 'The Ring' is that we monitor 'The Courthouse' and that forum is pretty much for politics and science. 'The Ring' is for pretty much any topic that the author wants to put in there and it may get heated. We don't moderate that forum. Some topics or posts from any part of the forum may get moved there if they get very heated. The reason it may look the same is because politics are usually the most volatile subjects. We don't have a separate forum but we would love other thoughts on the subject and then we will mull over if we need a second local topic forum. Great input!!
