Is there any way to block a thread?

Just wondered if it is a posibility to have a way to block a thread that you don't want to keep seeing instead of a person? I have been asked by a few people if there was a way to block an entire thread of something that they are tired of having come up. Thanks

People just have to exercise self restraint and not click on the thread they don't want to see.

How can I be enraged about it, if I don't see it?
