Elk Creek Fire has made it to the scene of the fire. It's a one and a half acre fire in light fuels with some dead and downed wood. Variable light winds from north. Calling this the Cochise Fire.

Edit to add: upgrade tone for ECFPD personnel to respond to #CochiseFire at Cochise Trail and Ouray Rd.
Asking if Platte Canyon Wildland Fire Module is available, dispatch will check.

There's a storm cell moving into the area. While rain would provide some assistance, there could be lightning strikes starting additional fires. Please keep your eyes open for new smoke plumes.

Per Sal Christ at Canyon Courier, Elk Creek Fire says

Lightning is believed to have started the Cochise Fire in the Hi Meadow Fire burn scar area near Pine. As of now, the fire is 0% contained and has burned 3 acres. No structures are threatened, but rugged terrain and hazards such as snags are complicating firefighting efforts.

Morning update: crews have returned and they are working to get apparatus to the fire. They have space to park several, and that will really help them knock this down.

Last night's update from Elk Creek Fire:
The Cochise Fire is 2.9 acres and burning in the High Meadow Fire burn area. The fire is at 0% containment at this time. Elk Creek Fire will have units patrolling the area through the night and resources will be back on the fire in the morning.
