PASSENGER VEHICLE TRACTION LAW
  • I-70 Westbound / Eastbound between Silverthorne and Bakerville (Milemarker 205-221)
  • US 6 Westbound / Eastbound Loveland Pass (Milemarker 220-229)
Passenger vehicles are required to have snow or mud/snow tires, use chains/alternative traction devices, or be a 4WD/AWD vehicle.

Chains or alternative traction devices (ATDs) required for all CMV, including busses and vans of 16+ capacity.

US 285 ==>> CMV CHAIN & PASSENGER VEH TRACTION LAW
Both directions from Morrison (mp 259) to Pine Junction (mp 229).

Numerous spin-outs and crashes throughout Jefferson, Clear Creek & Summit Counties. Please take your time and give the plows plenty of room. S1

Commercial vehicle chain law
  • US 285 in both directions between FS Rd 56 (Kenosha Pass) and North Fork Rd (Grant).
  • CO 9 in both directions, between County Road 4 (near Hoosier Pass) and Riverpark Dr (Breckenridge).
Chains or alternative traction devices required for all commercial motor vehicles including buses and vans of 16 or more passenger capacity. All passenger vehicles must use chains or alternative traction devices.
