Final Jeffco update re #64AlfaFire: Payne Gulch Rd & Happy Top Trl mandatory evacuation remains. Forest service land fire is 11 acres. Shawnee VFW shelter is closed. Pre-evac of Brookside and Payne Gulch Trlhd remain. Future updates: parkco.us or call 719-836-4200.

Evacuation shelter update:
We've been unofficially informed that the Shawnee VFW/Community Center is closed and not operating as a evacuee shelter.
We're waiting for additional official information.

Edit to update 8:54pm: If you're an evacuee from the #64Afire area and need overnight shelter please contact the local Red Cross @ 3039192923 for a hotel voucher.

Current fire size per #CDFPC MMA is 12 acres

Per Chief Burgett;
There were no significant changes with the fire since last night. However it did burn actively throughout the night, the fire has stayed within the containment lines.

Update 10:07am from Park County on the 64A Fire:
Mandatory evacuations for Payne Gulch Rd and Happy Top Trail residents remain in effect, pre-evacuations for Brookside and Payne Gulch Trailhead remain in effect. The Shawnee Community Center is closed, those needing shelter should contact the Salvation Army at 719-838-0140. Please continue to monitor 719-836-4200 for updates.

Update: 2:30 pm, 9/16

The 64A Fire is at 50% containment. Fire cause is being investigated. A type 1 and one type 3 helicopter was released from the incident today. The Type 1 helicopter will be preposition at the Monument

Update per #pcfpd Chief Burgett who is assigned to the fire...

The immediate threat to the Payne Gulch subdivision and surrounding area has diminished.

Fire size remains at 12 acres

Fire is currently 50% contained.

***Evacuation Order***
WILL remain in place until firefighters have hose line in place along with 100% containment.

(We apologize at this time we do not have official information if a evacuation shelter has been set up, please contact Red Cross)

As long as there are no set backs...100% containment is projected & expected to be completed by end of shift tomorrow.

Smoke will be visible from the fire today.

At the end of day shift operations the 64A Fire is still at 50 % containment. Fire operations plan for tomorrow will start with putting in a hose lay to hold the fire in place during the predicted 20 to 30 mph wind event from a approaching cold front.
