Grass Fire off of CR 64 in Payne Gulch area

Why has the fire has not gone down in size and up in containment? Please explain. Thank you so much.

The fire crews are letting the interior of the fire area burn out naturally while they work to get a strong containment line around it so it can’t escape and grow bigger. Once the fire has burned down, they’ll go in and look for hot spots to put out so it can’t rekindle. If the fire stays contained, you’ll see the size of the fire stay the same while they build stronger containment and work to get that to 100%.
