#SnowCreekFire: Wildland Fire Hwy 285 at CO 8

West Metro is sending multiple apparatus to a brush fire in the trees on Hwy 285 at CO 8.

View from Lakewood:

Updating to large vegetation fire response. Notifying Wildland 1 team.

Mixed fuels, timber, potential spread up hill and down canyon.

Worried about storm causing downflow and "rapid rates of spread"

Per AlphaPixel Reach: Douglas County helo en route.

Initiating a 2nd alarm, all units stage at West Metro Fire station 11.

Initial size estimate is 1 acre, fire is torching, spread potential is moderate. Highway is safe at the moment and remains open.

Our crews responding to a wildfire near Highway 8 and 285. The fire is about an acre in size. Burning in grass, brush and trees. There is quite a bit of smoke, however the fire is slowly creeping to the Southwest. More info to follow.

Requesting mutual aid from Indian Hills Fire Rescue.

We're responding to a brush fire in area of Hwy 285 & Hwy 8, near Mt. Lindo. Fire is on south side of highway and is spreading south. We're conducting door-to-door evacuations of homes in the area; no structures are immediately threatened. Initial info; more to come. PIO enroute.

Helicopter having issues and is being grounded. Requesting a SEAT and another helo.

Fire is spreading southeast down the valley toward heavier fuels, line around 1/4 of the fire.

Media staging is at The Fort. Belleview Ave & Willow Springs Dr closed. Mt. Lindo Park is closed to S. Turkey Creek. Clarification: LookoutAlert sent to 60 homes was a pre-evac notice. A few homes have been evacuated on Mt. Lindo & tip of Willow Springs.
