OEM Update:

11:38 a.m. - Sept. 8, 2010 - Farmer's Insurance will set up a mobile claims center from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Boulder YMCA at 2850 Mapleton Ave.



11:31 a.m. - Sept. 8, 2010 - People who wish to make donations or volunteer are asked to dial 211 or call 866-760-6489. The public phone line is up and running for this purpose. Please do not drop off donations at local fire facilities.




8:26 a.m. - Sept. 8, 2010 - Boulder County Public Health continues to urge residents to stay inside due to smoke from the Fourmile Canyon wildfire. 7:58 a.m. - Sept. 8, 2010 - Sunshine Canyon Drive is closed.

I understand how difficult it is to not have information about your house, your neighbor's house, etc. but it really is important to not go into the blocked off areas. It is for your safety as well as all the people working the fire. If you go in, you are taking valuable resources away from the fire, investigation, etc. You will get news as soon as they can possibly get it to you. Please be patient.

12:45 p.m. - Sept. 8, 2010 - A community meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Coors Events Center on the University of Colorado campus in Boulder. The meeting is intended to inform residents about the initial response to the Fourmile Canyon wildfire, ongoing firefighting activates, and to provide resources through the Red Cross such as victim advocates and insurance and emergency shelter information.

Update from the 4pm briefing:

140 total structures destroyed and 24 damaged and of course they are still assessing the damage.
Web pages will be updated tonight with addresses and any other information they have.
5 people were found today and 4 are still missing.
Dumped 35,000 gallons of retardant on the fire.

5:15 p.m. - Sept. 8, 2010 - For families affected by the Fourmile Canyon fire and related mountain school closures, Boulder Public Library offers board games for school-aged children and their families at the Main Library, 1001 Arapahoe Ave. Visit the library’s South Pulse Point for Apples to Apples, Monopoly, and much more. Families are welcome from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. For more information: Boulder Public Library Youth Services, 303-441-3099.
