Vegetation Fire West of Loveland - Reservoir Road Fire

The following information update has been made for: Reservoir Road Fire

Greetings Folks...one more reminder about our schedule here: we shortly will be suspending the manning of our Joint Information Center. This means that after perhaps 4 pm this afternoon, when you call our emergency information line at 498-5500 you will hear a recording instead of one of our several public information officers who have been working very long hours so that you can have a live human being to speak to. But with the re-entry of residents back to their homes (still hoping for around 3 p.m. if the weather cooperates) and the fact that the fire is now being managed by the Type I Team, it is felt it's time to clean up and regroup - either for the next fire incident or the avalanche of paper work that now will descend upon those of us who have been managing the incident.
Residents who are returning will not be reading this until later probably since many of them are right now gathering for a briefing at the Bison Visitor Center next to the Flatiron Reservoir. At that briefing we will, among other things, have health department officials on hand to discuss the sanitation issues with food gone bad and how best to clean and sanitize refrigerators, etc. We have also arranged for 4 dumpsters to be brought into the area for use by residents to dispose of trashed food and other fire related items. Two of the will be at the Pinewood Camp Ground and two more at the Flatiron camp/picnic ground. They will be a turquoise color (I am told) and will probably have the name of Gallegos Sanitation on them. I have asked that these be available through the weekend and we will have them picked up on Monday morning.
With our departure from the active conveyance of information, I urge to all to go to a very fine web site for information on the fire: http://www.inciweb.org/incident/2123
This will be maintained by the current management team until they depart. For those who will be returning to their homes, please also note that the 211 - United Way people have put together a packet of information on all sorts of recovery issues and programs. Please take advantage of this and if you can't find one at the Bison Visitor Center, please feel free to call 211 for help. They're great people and are on duty specifically to offer you information.
Good luck to all of you who have suffered loss or have be inconvenienced by the Reservoir Road Fire and a hats off to all the fire fighters and others who have done such splendid work. But lets not give them the chance to priove their worth anythime soon. It is still hot and especially dry. Fire season will be with us for a while so be careful with fire and recall that we are now under fire restrictions on any fireworks or open fires (other that those in campground masonary or metal grated containers, ets. Please check out the notation on these restrictions on the face page of this site just one more time and take it seriously. Thanks.
