Clear Creek County working to get residents better internet access

From Clear Creek County, Colorado:

Clear Creek County is currently working with the State of Colorado’s Broadband Office to create a more accurate Broadband map by challenging the FCC’s current Broadband map. This map shows where internet service is (and is not) available in Colorado and across the country. This map will help to determine Colorado’s share of a $42.45 billion broadband investment from the federal Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program. Input from residents will improve the accuracy of the map and result in more federal broadband funding targeted to the areas of Colorado that need it most.

Attached is a press release with more information.

CLEAR CREEK COUNTY WORKING TO GET RESIDENTS BETTER INTERNET ACCESS, URGING PEOPLE TO TEST INTERNET SPEEDS

Clear Creek County is urging residents to test and share their internet speeds with the County in an effort to get county residents better internet access–no matter where they live. It's obvious that Clear Creek County is not only spread out, but also has rocky terrain that can make it hard for people to get the type of internet access they deserve and need.

The Colorado Broadband Office within the Governor’s Office of Information Technology has identified significant inaccuracies reported on the FCC map and urges the general public to visit broadbandmap.fcc.gov/home, check their address and submit a challenge if the information is incorrect.

To make this confusing process easier, Clear Creek County is urging residents to do the following:
1. Go to broadbandmap.fcc.gov/home and type in your address.

2. If there is no dot on your home, camp, or business, or the location needs to be
corrected, drop a pin on the map, click Location Challenge, fill out the form with the correct
information, and click submit.

3. If the information about the broadband service offerings available at your home,
camp, or business needs to be corrected, click Availability Challenge, fill out the form,
and submit.

4. Encourage your neighbors, friends, and family to follow steps 1 through 3 above!
You can also take this brief survey. Once the survey is submitted, it will provide more
information to the state on the County’s behalf. All of this is in an effort to clear up any
inaccuracies and in turn, give residents better internet access and speeds in the future.
