What chance would the fine citizens of Colorado Springs have against the armed might of Peterson or Fort Carson? Also what philosophy so unites one region against the other as to allow for such a movement? It's a different world today. We are a different people. My answer to the question is a simple no. This history thankfully will not be repeated. We're too old, too successful and too wealthy for such a foolish endeavor.

Look at the Spanish Civil War, the Left had gained power and were making real change to centuries domination by royalists and the Church. Military units rebelled against the Popular Front, the civvie goverment. Traditionally the military is more conservative in the US and could be the leaders of the Red State revolt.
Luckily America doesn't have a tradition of military takeovers and I don't think we will see this in our lives. Like said above, most people are fairly content and very few have desires to take to the trenches to change things.

Anyone with a passing aquaintance with the anquish of the civil war would run far and fast in the other direction.

Don't EVER WANT It to be repeated, BUT I WILL NOT BE A VICTIM!

Have studied it a LOT, and we do NOT learn from history read & be enlightened. REMEMBER WHAT REALLY CAUSED the CIVIL WAR (no such thing as a civil war), STATES RIGHTS!!!! The trigger was slavery.
Could the next trigger be the FEDS forcing the States to BUY SOMETHING they DON'T WANT? Or will the trigger be the States Protecting their own citizens, because the Feds will NOT, BTW that's the Feds job. But when the people have HAD it with being taxed to death, and see NOTHING in return, (except for a certain few)... Well, IMHO, our children, & GRANDchildren & GREAT-GRANDchildren, well see... Prepare for the future NO MATTER What it brings.

Being prepared is something the strong will do. The needy will want the government to take care of them in the Hard times that are coming. They may find themselves in dire straights.

Part of the reason for the Civil War was also economic. The majority of the population was in the North and they passed into laws protectionist tariffs to help new industrial production which hurt the agrarian south and consumers nationwide.

Need more bipartisan wins than the current left/right, conservative/liberal, tea party/republican/democrat gaps.

 I agree whole heartedly! 90% of the issues in our country are being caused by hyper-partisans. As a moderate independent I'm sick of it. It makes me angry when people long for war in order to supress those whose politics they disagree with. We're all Americans, left, right and center. We all bring something valuable to the table. A country with one school of thought looks like Afghanistan.

I think this may be the trigger...economic meltdown. Gas and food shortages could lead to civil war.

Agreed, unless the radical leftist, (that walk in & out of the White House, like it's a neighbor bar), start it with class envy first!

Investigation Finds Gaping Holes in ‘Transparent’ White House Visitor Logs
• The “event” description in the logs is blank for more than 205,000 visits, including many that involved small meetings with the president and his key aides.

• Five junior staff aides together received more than 4,440 visits. By contrast, then-chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, famed for his workaholic schedule, is listed as having fewer than 500 visits.

• Less than 1 percent of the estimated 500,000 visits to the White House in Obama’s first eight months — a time when the new administration was bustling with activity — have been disclosed, according to the Center’s analysis.
