Trouble, Don't bring up Home school families who really educate with a shoe-string budget and how they consistently score better and dominate the Bee contests. I am sure they will throw the Bible at you.

Some of them of do a good job on a shoe-string budget.

And some of them do a lousy job.

Private schools are not "hands down, better performing" than public. There are some outright-dreadful private schools. And there are many public school districts that outperform many or even most private schools.

But even if you send your kids to private schools, or have no kids at all, your property values generally are going to be higher in a well performing school district than in a poorly performing one. Can you point out many examples of a school district that is poorly funded yet high performing?

Private schools that perform poorly don't stay around long - public schools do...

Nope, no Bible tossin here....my grandkids are home schooled and they are doing really well. I'm incredibly proud of both my son and daughter-in-law for doing this. It is very time consuming and takes special people to put in the time and effort to do it well. It is not, however, for everyone.

Wrong you are. There are boatloads of crappy private schools, especially down south. Mostly so-called "Acadmies" that exist only because white people won't send their kids to public schools where black children are. The more expensive ones can be quite good, most of the cheaper ones are one step under awful. Unlike RT, not everyone has that extra 9K a year just hanging around to pay the higher tuition at a good private school. I can't imagine any voucher system that would provide enough funds for everyone to choose really good private schools.

I wouldn't be opposed to the idea of vouchers if I wasn't intimately familiar with the true awfulness of some private schools out there. I think private schools can be great and homeschooling can be too. Neither one is for every family, though.

Yes, it's called PARENTING...something frowned upon by feminist, socialist, and liberals in the US government and education system.

Oh wow, now you are saying that white folks send their kids to horrible schools just to avoid the black people. How stupid of a comment is that?

Hey AV, I don't have the extra $ 9K hanging around...but IF I wanted my kids to go to Kent with a voucher...I just might work an extra night job so they could....

Parental choice should trump what you think - give me a voucher and let me decide how to spend my money and how I want to educate my children.... but only a true socialist wants control of my children, my money, and their hearts and minds.

Wrong again.....they are very liberal in their politics, and very loving responsible parents. You toss out these labels and use a very broad brush to paint all liberals the same, but you are wrong now just as you have been wrong about liberals for all the years I have known you on message boards. I also know that you will never change your opinions, you know what you know and won't allow any facts to interfere with that.

I didn't say liberals didn't homeschool...I said liberals and feminist frown upon parents parenting and parental rights.

No they don't. It's as simple as that....you are wrong!

RT, did you know that Kent Denver is a LIBERAL private school and I seriously doubt you'd send your kids there.
