1/3rd of conservatives still think Obama not born in U.S.

Okay SC he released the short one and waited two years to post the long one? If he didn't ever want the long one released why did he do it at all. He should have put this to rest day one. It was manipulative. I am not saying others don't do the same but don't give me the President of change and transparency. He is not any of those things.

He certainly seemed like the dream candidate when it came to tossing the GOP bums out on their butts, but beyond that?

The only thing Obama was elected for was to break the glass ceiling. I don't vote for anyone just for those reasons, I tend to vote for the best person. But politics has never been my thing. I am happy the ceiling is broken for the future but this president was never ever going to be more than that. He was not the best candidate. I hope that this helps bring some new talented people but this pres was not ever going to be one of them. He still sucks. He is egotistical to the core and I believe in people's motivation being huge for what they are about.

Just a small correction here...it was not Obama who refused to show the long form birth certificate when he ran for president, it was the State of Hawaii. The short form was legal and proves he was born in Hawaii....it is the only form the state gives when you request a copy of your birth certificate. Obama had to specifically request they make an exception and give him a copy of the long form. There was NO legal necessity to do that. The reason he did go to the trouble to request the long form is because of the continuing birther nonsense.....and, as predicted, it still doesn't change the birther's minds.

I don't believe that. He is running for president, it should have been looked at long before he ran then.

I might contend, it did satisfy some, though not all. Your points are well taken, but I might argue that he simply let the whole thing get out of hand. It is a political arena, and that means accusations get thrown out there with the intent of causing you to use valuable time and resources defending yourself against them. As you well know those accusations need not he truthful (in fact often are not). But the longer one ignores accusations especially if false, the more they gain perceived validity, which was the case with the BC. Armed with 20/20 hindsight Obama should have nipped this crap in the bud very quickly. The fact a long form required special efforts is irrelevant.

Nice way to misquote me Rockdoc. What I said was:

You make us look stupid with your lack of knowledge and regard for science.

I thought you were better than to deliberatley misquote someone like that. Is everyone on this site a total jerk?

I do not think I misquoted you. "You make us (meaning you) look stupid with your lack of knowledge and regard for science." This sentence says that because the group you refer to has a regard for science it make you look stupid. If that is not what you mean to say, it is a matter of writing difficulty and my reading comprehension. I've said it before, that writing something so the another will not misinterpret it is difficult. Anyway, I stand by how I read the sentence. If it is wrong and you do have a regard for science, then I can always retract my disbelieving response.
