Yes in fact Bill Gates has spent more money in Africa- immunizing children and providing schools with computers and a whole host of others things- than the USA has provided to Africa in 20 years combined.
I have no problem with this- it's his money and he can spend it as he sees fit.
After all - he created that money- he didn't steal it by force of government. For how many years did we hear the left criticizing microsoft- they made Gates out to be the devil himself. For years they played the class envy card- Gates didn't keep any American from earning money- in fact just the opposite- he created millions of jobs for our economy. All those employees pay taxes. The products he created made it possible for millions of others to become more productive with computer tools- enabling companies and individuals to make more profit.
I was one of those who benefited big time by what Bill Gates created. I even invested and became a stockholder for many years. Any American could have done the same thing.
The left needs to get over their obsession against corporations. They stand to gain politically by creating a class envy and feeding people the BS that anyone who has more than they do is the enemy. The people are sheep who buy into this.
Any one of us could have put 1000 dollars into Microsoft in 1986 and became a millionaire. Every one of us has this opportunity today with any number of companies. No American is without opportunity in a free market. It's when we allow class envy to get the better of us - and advocate government control that we shoot ourselves in the foot.
It doesn't matter who these guys supported... If you pay a guy $150 Million this year, and you paid him a $120 Million last year, and in that year he's destroyed your company, run it into the ground, and the only thing that's changed is your company is toast, and there around thousands without jobs now, and the sleazebag that did it is $30 million richer, do you REALLY think he's going to create more jobs with that $30 million?
If the money transfer to the top were going to create more jobs, then why weren't more jobs created in the 8 years that Bush ran it into the ground? It was during Bush's 8 years that most of this transfer-of-wealth took place... Bush "created" 3 million jobs in 8 years... (and lost 8 million)... Clinton created 23.1 million... So, if all this wealth at the top creates more jobs, where are they? (And spare me the crap that a 3.6% tax increase on the top bracket has ANYTHING to do with it whatsoever...)
I don't "hate" Bill Gates because of his wealth, but I sure wish he could design an internet browser that didn't cause me to swear and tear my hair out.

I have to ask the same question. And I'd add, why is it that the more wealth concentrates at the top, the more the jobs that ARE created tend to be crappy service jobs with no benefits or potential for advancement?

Where do you live birbrain?..America is a bunch of giant, exclusive, ever consolidating monopolies that stifle invoation, crush compition and buy legistlation. Guys..This is not a free market, not even close..Why do you idiots always think your argueing for capitilism when you argue for Microsoft or Walmart??

Government policy is driving our companies offshore. It's that big sucking sound that Ross Perot talked about many years ago. Government regulations, unions, taxes and the current badmouthing from the Obama administration we hear today is keeping our Companies and investors from investing.
Who's the winner here?
China - 10+% GDP
India - 8+% GDP
Pacific Rim - 8+% GDP
South America - 6-8% GDP
These areas of the world are not in recession! Growth is happining and their economies are booming.
USA - 1.2% GDP
Not even enough to keep from losing more jobs.
It's the government policy driving this.
And I agree- a CEO who ruins a company should be accountable- The BOD of that company should be accountable. The stockholders should hold them accountable.
And the government should not bail them out with our money.

Lol..No it's not the cheap labor overseas. Couldn't be that

.
Sorry. I'm not drinking that koolaid.
Taxes, personal, corporate and capital gains, are at one of the lowest levels they have been at since WWII. The percentage of union workers has dropped to about a third of what it was in the 1950s.
In fact, big business has gotten practically everything they have demanded, dished up to them under 30 years of Republican dominance, including the gutting of a lot of regulations. Obama hasn't raised corporate tax rates. So that means that for 12 straight years, all the things you say are what are needed for job growth were there.

Go ahead and keep believing what your socialist leaders tell you. You won't be doing yourselves any favors. Yes there is corruption in our government- and also a simple way to get rid of it- defund the government and you eliminate the central power. Allow government to perform only those functions that it was originally intended for. Our corruption of government by corporations is because we the people have allowed government to run amok.
If we all got on the same page- we could limit the size of government and eliminate thos issues- and return ourselves to a free and prosperous free market. No one is barred from owning those corporations even with all the government corruption.
