What country would you prefer to live in with a weak central government and strong regional powers? Somalia, Yemen, Afghanistan? Why do you want a federal government that has such limited power when the world that follows that model is the worst of the worst. Curious. Do we want tribalism?

Maybe taking your example a little too far? I can do the same, the USSR had a very strong central goverment, really sucked if you were a regional minority with Russian bosses and Russian governors controlling your lives. China today is another good example of a strong central goverment that rides roughshod over ethnic minorities.
Since the American Civil War, we have seen a gradual increase in federal powers and decrease in local control, I don't want to live under the control of a regional warlord but I also don't think the Feds need to control what local infrastructure projects get built and age to legally drink. I think the politicians & votersin Colorado have a better idea of what we need than national bureaucrats.

Maybe, but isn't that what we all do on here?

JMC do you think the "United states of the European Union" with one National gov't would be better than separate European countries?

If I don't like Massachusetts or NY, I can move to Colorado. (20 years ago I did!)

If you want to be, press one. If you want not to be, press 2

Republicans are red, democrats are blue, neither of them, gives a flip about you.

I prefer Colorado to Mississippi, so what , answer my original question . What country without a strong central government would you prefer to live? I would take Europe over any tribalised country. My view is that countries that are set apart by tribal or regional beliefs are usually weak and backward. Prove my point wrong.

The weaker central government was the American experiment. We were unique and we could not hold onto our republic.

It doesn't have to be all or nothing, let's leave more political decisions up to local voters. There are a lot more people in LA and NYC but I don't think they want the same things I do. Do you think Washington knows better what Colorado needs than you do?

I dunno JMC. I need more choices, or re-phrase. And anyway, I wouldn't leave the USA for any other country! :)

Where I prefer to live has little to do with the government, except causing me to rule out living there, such as Callyfornia!

I thought the civil war defined that. Balance is everything." One Nation"? "United" States?
